A personal tool born from my own journey with emotional eating

About Me

Hi, I'm Tom. Like many people, I've struggled with emotional eating - reaching for food not because I'm hungry, but because I'm stressed, bored, anxious, or trying to fill an emotional void.

This app is my attempt to create a tool that actually works for me, and hopefully for others too. It's built on the principles of mindfulness, self-compassion, and the understanding that breaking autopilot patterns takes practice, not perfection.

My Weight Loss Journey

In the background of this page you can see my weight loss graph. I've tried diets, exercise plans and more. I needed to find something sustainable for me that could become part of my lifestyle.

I found intermittent fasting to be a powerful tool - it has helped me control my calorie intake, positively improved by energy levels and mood. I still have cravings, but I try to pause and be mindful of my choices - more often than not, I reach for food because of habit - taking a minute to pause helps me be more intentional.

This app combines the two tools, with very little setup and bloat - just open the app and start fasting or pausing. I'm hoping it can help me continue this positive progress and perhaps you will find it useful too.

How This App Was Made

Fast Pause is built with modern web technologies to be fast, private, and accessible. By making it a Progressive Web App (PWA), you can add it to your home screen and use it completely offline.

Privacy first: Everything is stored on your device using IndexedDB. Your data belongs to you and you can export it anytime.

The app was built with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS and is hosted on Vercel.
